Expansion

A little late on this post but it’s been a busy week. On Tuesday I was notified that we were not allowed to sell bikes to people who come from off campus. At first I was worried, as this is pretty much the only way we are able to sell 20+ bikes per week. I had a few ideas, first was a retail shop. I quickly realized we weren’t ready to pay a lease, insurance, utilities etc. we landed on a storage unit. A 35 x 12 foot unit about a three minute drive from campus. The $500 monthly rent hurt at first, but almost immediately paid off. It made me realize how inefficient and unorganized our old system was. Navigating people on campus to our bikes was a nightmare, and once they were here they were often unimpressed with our setup, under an appartment building, sand all over the concrete slabs that are right next to the complexes recycling bins. Now, with our lineup in a clean and organized storage unit people could only focus on the bikes, without being confused by directions before they even got here. people are either more impressed with our set up, or just browse like normal as if they were in a bike shop.

Now that we are offcampus, and have to drive to sell a bike, we are really focusing on more expensive bikes. Last week we sold a bunch of more expensive bikes: $250, $140, $130, $100, $200, I think it turned out to be about 10 bikes for $100 plus. Although the magins can be a bit lower, you make a ton more money than selling a $50 cruiser and profiting $30. Matteo bought the $250 bike for $100, enough of a sale to satisfy me for the day. This past week 17th - 24th and theek prior 10th - 16th have been our best two weeks yet. We sold 23 and 22 bikes respecitivy, and brought in about $3,500 among the 45 bike sales. Matteo and I are both away for thanksgiving and booking people to come check out the bikes saturday and sunday. After a busy weekend of buying, we now have over 40 bikes. With about two weeks left in the sememster, we have a lot of selling to do before we go home for christmas break. Back to work we go.....
